A Zen alarm clock is wonderful for people who meditate on a regular basis
like I do.
By the way, there is a lot of misconception about meditation. Many think
you must be a Buddhist or a Hindu to practice it, and that you have to sit
cross-legged for hours on end chanting some mantra and chasing Nirvana. That is simply not true.
I mean, you can do all that, if that's your choice or calling, but that is not what
the whole thing is all about. Just like most people in our modern society,
you don't have to be of any particular religion to experience the benefits
of meditation.
Since making it a daily habit, I have become
healthier, more joyful, peaceful, and calm.
And while I usually do meditate sitting cross-legged and barefoot (the
Lotus position), you don't always have to.
I also don't do it for hours. Actually, that is exactly why a Zen alarm
clock would come in handy.
You see, it is important to make sure that my meditations get as deep
as possible, but I also have plenty of other obligations during the day.
If I slip too deeply into relaxation and bliss, I might not get out in time to go to work
or to pick up my daughter from school, or whatever else there is on my
schedule that day. That is why I wanted to get a Zen alarm clock to really
help me out. And I have to say that my digital Zen alarm
clock has served me well.
I know that the name Zen alarm clock may sound kind of stupid to some and
again, they may associate it with a certain religion or culture, while
others think it's just
another crass marketing gimmick. Well, in a sense that's probably what it is.
But still, digital Zen alarm clocks really provide an important function
to anyone like me who has a day-to-day mediation practice that they like to keep
up.
A normal alarm clock or clock radio will just not get you out of
meditative state
gently.
While a Zen alarm clock uses a soothing gong sound to smoothly bring
you back up to the reality of your daily life, an alarm clock radio
will either wake you with a harsh beep or buzz, or else with the blare of
music from whatever station that you have it set to. That can be annoying!
This will also undo a good bit of the benefit of meditation, because you will
instantly tense up when you suddenly hear that harsh sound coming out
through the speakers at the end of your peaceful moment.
Best of all, a Zen alarm clock can be used in place of a regular AM/FM
radio alarm clock to get you up in the morning. Have you ever experienced
being suddenly jarred out of bed by your alarm clock with no warning at
all? How did that feel? Every time that happened to me, I always felt like
throwing that freakin' clock out the window, ha ha! And if you're not
careful, that can actually set your mood to be irritable and grouchy for
most of the day.
A
digital Zen alarm clock has a digitized gong sound and can be set in many
different ways either to awaken you with a series of loud chimes or to
gradually increase in volume until it has reached its full capacity. No
matter how you set this cool timepiece, it will help you wake up gently
and feel all nice and refreshed in the morning, ready to experience all
the abundance the universe has to offer.
Now I can also bring my Zen alarm clock whenever I travel, which I do
every now and zen. I mean THEN! <giggles> I don't want to miss my meditation sessions just
because I'm not at home. Besides, I still have to wake up every morning,
right? :)
As you can see by now Zen alarm clocks can be very useful despite the
cheesy marketing factor. Even if you don't meditate everyday (which I
highly recommend you do), you can still benefit from this divine timepiece
(oops, it got to me too, didn't it? He he!) by being awaken in a kinder
and gentler way each morning.
Namaste!
