Landscape Design and Landscape Architecture


Landscape design is in general regarded as a division of a broader field known as landscape architecture. Landscape design also usually focuses on smaller projects, as opposed to landscape planning which typically involves bigger projects or the widest perspective of large-scale landscaping projects that take place over a long period of time.

The way that landscape design is distinguished from landscape architecture is simply that landscape design refers to an actual set of design plans for a particular area where landscaping will be performed.

In addition, projects of landscape design are frequently individual contract jobs which form a larger landscape plan.

Another term used quite often is garden design, which is not exactly the same as landscape design. For the most part, garden design refers to landscape work done on private homes or properties, while landscape design itself usually applies to landscape projects performed for corporate clients or the public.
