A High Definition projection TV or HDTV projection system is the best thing in home entertainment because it makes you feel
just like being in a movie theater. If you have never experienced it,
you're certainly missing out. One of our neighbors was really kind to have
my daughter and her little friends over for a night of Disney movies last
weekend. They recently bought the HDTV projection and decided to entertain
some kids. Very sweet, huh?
It was actually an unplanned event. It was a warm autumn evening down South,
and my daughter and I were strolling the neighborhood in our shorts and bare feet
(yes, life is great!) right after dinner,
admiring the beautiful
Christmas yard
decorations when my cell phone rang.
It was Nancy my neighbor asking if we would be interested in watching
some movies on their new HD projection TV which she boasted was the best
thing ever. She and her husband just got it a few days ago and decided to
invite a few of the neighbors' children over.
Although I was using my
cordless
telephone headset, my little girl somehow knew what our conversation
was about, and she was like, "yes, mom I wanna be there! Please,
please can we go? It's gonna be a lot of fun!" Now how could I say no to
that? She had previously watched movies on an HD projection TV at
one of her classmates' house, so she knew what to look forward to.
Since we happened to be only a few blocks away
from their house, I told Nancy we would come straight over. My daughter
couldn't contain her excitement. She skipped and did cartwheels along the sidewalk going "yes, yes, yes!" She would be spending the evening with her
best buddies watching cartoons on a giant HDTV projection. What more could
a kid ask for, right? :)
When we got to their house, we immediately went to the entertainment room
where the HD projection TV was. Nancy's son was there with two of his best
friends who are twins. They're really funny; they finish each other's
sentences and everything. They couldn't wait to start the first movie but
we had to wait for a couple of girls to arrive. Luckily it
wasn't very long as the kids were really getting agitated.
The HDTV projection system has a little projector which mixes the color
and shoots them out onto a projection screen, projecting a large image. They turned the television on to an
immediate chorus of "ooohs" and "aaahs". I admit it was pretty
impressive, like actually being there except that there wasn't really any
place as this was a cartoon. It's hard to tell by looking at the projected
image what the actual resolution is, but I'm sure it is quite high.
I had seen a few projection TV's back when I was in high school but I wasn't too impressed. Although the picture was large the
quality wasn't that great. Because this one uses high definition
technology, the image is fantastic. I have to agree with my friend, this
is the best HD projection TV. It really looks every bit as good as a movie
theater, with the advantage of being at home.
Believe
me, if your guests are as restless as these children, being at home is
certainly an advantage. Many times they had to stop the flicks and turn off the HD projection TV for a break of
some sort. The girls had to take bathroom breaks, and then everyone wanted
some snacks, so Nancy had to make some popcorn.
Later the twin boys were fighting and had to be separated. Having an
allergy, my daughter had to go out and blow her nose every so often. You just gotta
love kids :) Several minutes were gone each time before they turned the HD
projection TV back on. You can't do that in a cinema without missing some
important parts of the movie. That reminds me of the last time I took my little girl and
her friends to the movies.
You should have seen the dirty looks people gave us. So vicious and sinister
you could see them in the darkened theater :) And that doesn't even count
the woman who kept turning around every two or three minutes saying
"shush". I swear she made more noise than the kids, but I couldn't
blame her for getting pissed off. Imagine being seated in front of a bunch of
little brats who kept putting their dirty bare feet up on the back of the seats next
to you and giggling loudly every three minutes. God, I was so freakin' embarrassed that
night, I swore I'd get an HDTV projection!
However, my friend beat me to it, and I'm fine with that. They bought it
at the local electronics warehouse for really cheap since it was a
discontinued HD projection TV model, and they began to use it immediately.
Their son had his birthday party in it, and there they were, a dozen tykes
in the family room, oohing and aahing to the re-released DVD of The Never
Ending Story.
By the time we finished watching the last movie on their HD
projection TV, it was past midnight and all the kids were pooped. Although
we all live close by, Nancy's husband gave everyone a ride home in his
car. My daughter was so tired that she jumped straight to bed as soon as
we got back home. Luckily it was Saturday night, so she wouldn't have to
wake up early the next morning. It was indeed the best HD projection TV
experience, even for this
big kid (read: me). Just can't wait to get my own HDTV projection set.
Well, maybe next year. Unless Santa is kind enough to bring
me one this Christmas ;)
Have a wonderful day!
