A Goofy Movie Remake

A Goofy Movie remake is underway. David Lynch, director of Wild at Heart, Blue Velvet, Eraserhead and Mulholland Dr. has agreed to remake the animated Disney movie.

The original “A Goofy Movie” is an animated musical film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1995 featuring the characters from The Disney Afternoon television series Goof Troop. The movie, which could also be considered a “road film” (A film genre in which the action takes places during a journey) uses the voices of Bill Farmer as Goofy and Jason Marsden as Max is about father-son relationship between Goofy and Max as they struggle to find common ground despite Max’s persistence in having his own life and winning the girl of his dreams. A direct-to-video sequel, titled An Extremely Goofy Movie, was released in 2000.

So how’s the new A Goofy Movie different than the original? I mean, if you’re recreating something it’s usually because you wanna improve it, right? Well, a movie reviewer said, “The blue tones, soundtrack, editing and selection of shots make this version of A Goofy Movie seem surreal, spooky and totally unlike anything released from Disney, with the exception of The Black Cauldron.”

I have to agree. After watching the trailer of the new Goofy Movie I get the feeling that remake of this Disney animation is kind of eerie… in fact, it’s probably appropriate for Halloween? :) Watch the trailer and judge for yourself.
